It looks like Tecno Mobile has finally caught the Android 6.0 "Fever". According to details on one of their websites , Tecno W4 is their new smartphone , and it is the first Tecno device to use Android Marshmallow Operating system.

Tecno W4 Review (Hands-On)
Launched in April 2016 , Tecno W4 is the first TECNO device to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It comes with a 5.0 inch screen 1GB RAM and 2500mAh battery.
Recently , I bought the Tecno W4 , and was quite impressed with the design and features. Here’s my unboxing and quick review of the device
Body & Design :
Hands-On , the first thing i noticed was the light and beautiful design . It was as if i wasn’t holding anything , as light as a feather. The body is made of plastic and the back cover can be removed. However , it comes with a 2500mAh battery that cannot be removed.
Just like the Tecno Boom J8 , W4 Comes with On Screen buttons ( the buttons are on the screen). The volume and unlock button are on the right side of the body , while the sim and memory card slot are inside the phone ( You’ld have to remove the back cover to insert sim and memory card).
In addition , the W4 comes with a free flip case which can be used to cover your phone. You don’t have to buy.
Performance And User Interface
Tecno W4 comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Although quite small , i was satisfied with the performance of the RAM and i’m yet to experience any sluggishness with the device.
The only thing i didn’t like is that out of the 16GB internal storage , only 10GB can be used. That is because the system files and pre-installed softwares accounts for 6GB of the memory , but if your want more space , the phone comes with a slot where you can put your memory card.
Now lets talk about the User Interface. We all know the device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow , but that’s not all. TECNO added their own custom user interface called the HiOs.
HiOs comes with some interesting features such as a custom file manager (Hi Manager) , a music player called Boom Player and a wide collection of themes and wallpaper (Hi Themes and Hi Wallpaper). Take a look at the screenshots below :
Camera :
Tecno W4 comes with 8.0MP back camera and 2.0MP front camera. During my camera test , i noticed that the front camera isn’t that sharp , but the back camera is very okay. For best results , i will recommend you use the front camera when you’re outside or when you’re in a very bright room. Here’s a shot i took outdoor :
Battery :
Tecno W4 comes with a 2500mAh battery. The battery takes an estimate of 2hrs 30 mins to charge from 0% and can last for at least 8hours of heavy usage. If you’re not an heavy user , it can last you for up to 12hours. Could even be more.
My Verdict :
Overall , i liked the Tecno W4 and i think if perfect for people looking for good android phones that don’t cost a fortune. The design is impressive , User interface is beautiful , and battery is okay. The only thing that didn’t really impress me is the front camera. Otherwise , everything is okay. I’d rate it 7 / 10.
